Need to jump the glow plug solenoid. It looks just like an old Ford starter solenoid. I've had to do 3 of them that way. When he turns the key on the solenoid should click. It's the one closest to the turbo on the top of the engine on the left side of the filter housing.
I agree, replaced two om my 7.3. In an emergency the solenoid can be jumper-ed around.
