7.3l owners 203 degree thermostat

Has anyone put the 203 degree thermostat in their 7.3l Powerstroke? Any adverse affects while towing? My truck would definitely benefit driving around town day to day but am worried about towing but on the other hand I'm sure the temps are that high while towing anyway. Thanks for any input

What are you trying to accomplish by putting in a hotter stat? :h

Diesels run more efficient at those temps. Between a bad thermostat and a 192 deg in hose thermostat, I can see at least 6MPG increase in my 2.8l

Make sure you get the long stem thermostat from Dieselsite vice an auto parts store 203*. Short stem won't properly close off the bypass, and has led to engine problems.

I use the 203 degree t-stat and have zero issues with it. 1996 F350 CCLB 4x4
  • I'll be doing this next time I have to drain my coolant for any reason. IH used the 203 thermostat until the 96 model I believe when Ford changed it.
