It didn`t last 38 years, because it should have been off the road decades ago! that truck is an accident waiting to happen! no way that thing can be safe for road use. I`ve seen cars that people don`t take care of. I`ve refused to work on cars better than that need to go to the junkyard!
This is not a story to brag about, instead the owner should be ashamed and the truck should not be allowed to be licensed!
That`s the Dodge Guy in me...........now the car guy in me repeats all the above!!!!:M
^ that's what I'm talkin' about!! LOL!
Seriusoly, I'm torn about this story - it's a nice "feel good" kinda deal that the good ole boy kept 'er going......
But then there's the "it's a rolling wreck and nothing to be proud of" side that see's a guy who neglected to fix much of anything correctly because it's a beater and he could get away with it....He could have driven it without a radiator / coolant, since it wouldn't even heat up on his 1.5 mile trip across the little farm town to the feed mill job...big deal! I've had many beaters that would have still be on the road today under that kinda use, but could not have let them get that bad or I would have been given an inspection / safety ticket driving in more "average" circumstances.
