811 vs 855S

Congrats!

One thing I've wondered; can you access your camper with the slide in? A primary reason I got the Lance was that I could fit in there to get up onto the bed, raid the fridge or use the commode without having the run the slide out.

And post some pics of your new rig too!

You might consider Torklift Stableloads before doing airbags. In my case, they did far more to help the squatting rear-end than airbags. Others here report the same thing.

I wound up choosing the Arctic Fox 811 due to the facts I stated in my initial posting. I ordered it special in January and am picking it up next week. Took almost 3 months to make and ship it.

I also ordered and got a 2015 GMC Denali 3500, crew cab, short bed, SRW for the truck. Got that back in July of 2014. They were done making anymore 2014's due to the style change. I'm also installing a set of Air Lift air bags. I love the truck and am sure we will love the Arctic Fox camper.

Although much different than a Class B that we are used to, we are excited about moving on into our next camping adventure.

Ditto. There was a Lance camper I considered, but the price was significantly higher. My theory was the price was higher due to transport costs from the factory (longer distance)

If you want just about any full featured TC (full bathroom, full kitchen, etc)it is going to be over your truck's GVWR.

Many members here use axle weight rating- FAWR (front axle) but mostly RAWR (rear axle) as THE weight to pay attention to.

We carry an 855s on our 2500 and are very comfortable, even on twisty back roads.

The AF 865 is available through limited dealers without a slide and not advertized on the Northwood site. You can also look at the Northstar, Wolf Creek and Adventurer campers. Honestly, you will have a hard time finding a quality camper that keeps you under GVWR with anything but sparse amenities.

We are considering the same 2 truck campers and I believe we'll be overweight with both units, even with minimal gear. We have a 2015 F350 SRW PSD. I weighed it with the wife, the dog and myself and 1/2 tank of fuel and it weighs 8380 total (5040 front, 3340 rear). It's rated for 11500 GVW. That leaves only 3120 lbs for the loaded camper and I'm pretty sure both will be way over that! I don't know how people haul them without a dually! I don't wanna be over GVWR!
Anyway, looking for some weights fully loaded on these units. If I could find a 855 without a slide I might go that route...

I know this post is a bit old, but I did check out a 2015 AF 811 the other day, and the dinette is definitely 76" long (I don't know about the width). I'm 6'3" and could lie down on the dinette bed with room to spare. Did they make a change between model years?

The Lance 855s is also 76" long.

AFAIK these models have not changed. They would have to change to a partial wall slide (fixed fridge) to steal that extra space from.
I am sure someone here has a new 811 or 855S they could measure for you and post up.
My dimensions were accurate at that time.
