Nice report Jefe. I too have spent many nights at Hope Valley and the Blue Lakes. This is one of our favorite places, about 1-1/2 hour drive for me. It only takes one generator to really ruin a good camping experience.
I am always hesitant going off totally by myself. I am concerned with the vehicle breaking in such a way I have to walk out. Years ago, I was a passenger in a vehicle that broke down. We walked out. When we came back to get the vehicle, my odometer said we walked 28 miles. I was much younger then. I am sure glad you and Jeanie did not break your front axle. It may not have been a 28 mile hike for help, but was plenty far.
