A sight I would like to see

Our year old 37 foot long travel trailer located in Key Largo was totaled with a five foot ocean surge from Irma.
Our insurance company totaled it and we received payment.
Yesterday I received a call from a friend who lives there and said the salvage company tow truck operator couldn't get the main slide in and towed it away with the slide out.
He was towing it all the way to Homestead (about 25 miles) along busy route US 1.

Should have been an interesting sight !

Yes, that would have been a sight and dangerous over the bridges but I bet there are all kind of loads being hauled out of the Keys.

    Jack,
How many units were in your park when Irma hit?

There were only a hand full of travel trailers of the newer kind like ours, but there were a bunch of the oldies that had attached enclosed porches that were totaled.(combination of wind and surge)
    I honestly don't have a count.
If it wasn't for the surge ours was absolutely unscathed and held perfectly in place with our hurricane tie downs

  • I would have thought he would have manually cranked it in rather than take a chance on causing an accident. Good thing the law didn't see him. I would have liked to see it as well, from a distance.
