Yep. My M608z's can go up 9% without a pressure change below 40mph, not sure what the wheels would think of that thou.

FAWR: 5200
RAWR: 6200
GVWR: 9900

What I will actually load to.
FAW: 5200 (weak link)
RAW: 9000 (Wheel limit)
GVW: 12,200 (max frame received from Dodge)

ANY and ALL ratings are for warranty purposes only. The weight cops in shacks along the freeways, and portable units in typically vans, DO NOT CARE, what the door sticker or manufacture ratings are. They only care about HOW MUCH paid tax/gvw/registration you have paid for. Along with are you under what the road/bridge/highway you are driving for, is designed to carry load wise from your tires!

I've been pulled over, way over, ala 150% of one of my trucks door sticker. NO overwieght ticket! I was over my paid for registration, I got a 10 day up my gvwr by 2000 lbs, send in the post card with my name signed on it that I had done so....otherwise, LEO said have a nice day!

I've been pulled over and weighed over a manufacture gcwr. All LEO cared about was that I again, had the correct PAID for registration, and I was under the road bed design limits per axel/tire.

THere were other things that I got hit for at times. But weight was never an issue, nor will it be if you the reader of this stays under a manufacture limit on a light duty truck. Now IF you have a type A or C motor home, with a RA that is rated higher than 20K single or 34K combined in tandem, and you are over the 20K/34K tandem.....well guess what, You will be ticketed for being overwt per the road bed design limits. Manufactures ratings be danged!

Grit, I totally agree with you. I have personally seen these mega cab trucks pulling large fivers. Are they over payload? Yep....based on the payload sticker, but they are likely way under the tire and axle ratings, with some exceptions of course

Generally, people only realize there is a problem after they come on here and find out how bad their truck is supposed to perform. At that point they get twitchy and go upgrade happy and earn their WP badge.

Why discuss the ratings at all if you think they are totally erroneous?

And to add to the question, why are all ratings erroneously high for 1/2 tons, and low for 3/4 tons? Any basis other than assumption?

Going in tomorrow to order the new ED. Going with the 3:92 gears and air suspension in the Big Horn 4X4 CC 5.7 SWB......man I said I would NEVER own a SWB truck and I'm going to order one.

My truck's payload is just over 3000#.

2007 Mega SRW 3500 G56 5.9 curb is listed as 7,391 and 48RE as 7,313. GVWR of 10,100.
2014 Mega 2500 G56 or 68RFE curb is listed as 8,094 with a GVWR of 10,000.

Where did that 703lbs come from? I wonder how much is frame/suspension changes.

That's a big difference for the same wheelbase and basically the same running gear.


What's interesting is that per the Ram website the only Mega Cabs in 2014 with a 1790 payload are either a Canada Laramie with a GVWR of 9,900 and a curb weight of 8,114 or a 5.7 Gas Longhorn with a 9,000 GVWR.

So if it is a Laramie Longhorn as the OP thought it's a 5.7 Hemi truck, not a Cummins. Thou the same truck in a Cummins only has a 1,850lb payload and a curb of 8,153.

If it was a Hemi truck Ram accidentally put a Cummins badge on it.

It was a Cummins Turbo Diesel Ram 2500 Mega Cab 4x4 loaded.

The Ram website is not very exact. There are discrepancies from the site for the exact VIN to the sticker on the door.
