A very nice write-up on Bob Meher of SnowRiver Campers...RIP

I met Bob acouple of times at RV shows. I enjoyed his banter. Linked below is a nice article on his passing in TCM:

A Celebration of Bob Mehrer of Interior RV

One never expects to see the good people on this earth pass early. This is sad news indeed. My wife and I visited Bob and Heather Mehrer in 2008 on our way to Alaska. Wonderful people is what we found. We camped on their property and were treated most graciously.
Here are some photos of that time

The Mehrers took ust up into the hills behind Naramata for some fine views of the country side.

    Heather is a vibrant woman.

Their home is near Okanagan Lake.

The home is close to the shore.

Bob did the wood work in the house.

Staying on their property was very nice. There was lots of good conversation.

  • I have always wanted to meet Mr Meher. I would have thanked him for his devotion to and passion for the truck camper.

Before we bought our camper I haunted these and other forums for information. I came to be aware of him from references to him by fellow contributors. Though he was manufacturing a competing brand to the one I ultimately bought, I found the features and benefits of his product to be closely in line with the information that I valued most.

There was a time he could post to this forum. I enjoyed the honest insight that only the designer/builder could offer. I always thought that at some point I would be going down the road in one of his products.

    Sadly, that won't happen.

But, I know that the industry has been changed and shaped by the contributions of builders like Bob Meher.

    Thank you Bob!

    See you out there,
  • We've heard many, many great things about Bob, and would have liked to meet him. Our condolences to Bob's family.

    Sincerely,

  • I will remember Bob as a good, giving geuine person who opened his heart to people . He just happened to be one of the best truck camper builders and owner of highly respected camper business.

It's a rare find to have customers and potential customers of your business become your friends, that tells you something about Heather and Bob . I remember being so impressed from the stories that TC owners and club members relayed about staying in their driveway , spending time with Heather and Bob and the humerous stories they passed along. To me that's priceless , people like that are role models and icons .

Our condolences to Heather, family and friends,

    Bob and Dottie
  • I never had the privilege of meeting Bob . But for many years I have heard many , many stories about his business ethics and his personal generosity . He will be missed by the many he helped.

I first met Bob during a TC caravan that I was part of when we visited TC manufacturers in Oregon, Washington, and BC. We visited his factory and I was so impressed that he and I sat down and put together what would have been my ‘dream’ camper, it had everything I ever wanted and more. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to sell my Lance for what I thought it was worth so I was not able to come up with enough cash (I don’t finance stuff) to buy so I kept the Lance. After the tour we all went up to a lake and Bob came along with his wife. We had a great time, Bob had endless stories to tell, what a great person. Then I met him again when it was decided that we should have a TC rally where all the TC manufacturers would be invited to show off their latest campers. It was held in Ogallala Nebraska. The turnout was fantastic. The rally was such a success that we held another one there and it too was a success. I am happy that I was able to be a part of all that but mostly that I became a good friend of Bob’s even though I never bought a camper from him. I kept in touch with him over the years. RIP Bob, enjoy that campground in the sky!

We remember that trip well. Heather and Bob were high school sweet hearts and were a great couple married for many years.
I believe Bob would give his shirt off his back for you.
Bob was also a great supporter of the world's best truck camper club: Natcoa

  • My wife met Bob at the Denver RV show many years ago. She said he was a very cool guy. He contributed a lot to the truck camper world and will be missed by many.

  • Thanks for posting...Bob was a very nice man in all that he did. I was honored to have met and spent time with him. We even boondocked in his back yard,

With his first slide out came a trend that has lead to all of TC's with 2 or 3 slideouts. The mechanism he used is a lot more robust that the ones the rest of us have.

We had exchanged emails in the last month... he was pretty upbeat as he recovered from his last bout with illness.

Janet and I sent his wife Heather a sympathy card on Wednesday.
