BTU`S dont equaly relate to amps and watts
There are higher BTU units with lower amps than the Mach 8 cub
9200 btu is just the compressers ability to cool
The mach 8 cub is probably quieter because it has lower cfm, 200, and it has two motors . One that cools the comp cooling fins that is not reduced in speed when you turn down the inside fan motor speed Most AC`S use the same motor, 2 fans on the same shaft , so reducing fan speed would reduce btus , not with 2 motors

You might be able to imagine it this way. Take one gallon (8 pounds) of water and put it on your stove. If the water it 60 degrees F. and you want to bring it to a boil (212 degrees F.) then you will need about 1,200 BTUs to do this.
