Adding 2nd Air Conditioner Concerns

In preparation for a long summer trip in 2018, I am planning on adding a 2nd AC unit to my 2017 Heritage Glen Wildwood. Model 300BH.

It is currently wired for a 2nd AC,, so all I need to do is mount it and wire it up.

Yesterday while looking around at the area to to install it, I realized that the vent where it goes seems to be very close to the front fiberglass end cap that wraps up from the front of the the trailer. I have not climbed up yet to get an actual measurement.

Also inside the trailer, there are some cabinet and trim pieces that seem to me they would be in the way of the lower control facia that bolts up the bottom of the AC.

I searched a few websites and can not find a diagram or white paper for a common AC unit and its dimensions.

Does anybody have an idea exactly how much space the frame takes up on the FRONT side of the AC unit?

I can always take mine apart and measure it, but I sure would like to have some dimensions before I start spending money on an AC unit.

Surely Forest River would not not install trim pieces or front caps that would prevent an AC from being installed!!

Thanks for any info or comments.

It looks like a Dometic Brisk Air II. The shroud and the ADB unit on the inside are an exact match to the one I purchased this year.

That is perfect. I had not thought about trying to find an ad for our model with an AC unit installed.

Anybody have an idea what model that AC unit is? I'm betting it is a Dometic, just like the main unit.

    Thank you,

IS the roof vent in bedroom or bathroom?

Standard opening is 14X14....same size for forward portion of A/C Unit (return air section where evap coil is and discharge plenum where fan wheel is)
Rest of A/C Unit (motor, condenser coil/fan) stick out the back

Roof vent is in the bedroom. Based on the link above it looks like I should room, but not lots of room!

    Thanks for the advice.

  • Since you are buying, get a heat pump. Not that much more expensive and will cut your propane use dramatically.

  • I ran into a similar situation, one that I have not solved yet. Too bad your so far away, I'd make you a great deal on an older Carrier 15,000 BTU heat pump(works well). I had planned to move this unit to a Roof vent area in the center of my MH....until I discovered it would not work the way I wanted. My MH has a step up design which would not allow the top unit to lay flat. Dometic makes the smallest foot print unit both inside and out...That's my next move. This will be a third AC for the MH.
  • I cant speak to all the brands but the Coleman Mach series only overhangs forward of the opening a couple of inches. The vast majority of the unit (about 19") overhangs to the rear of the vent hole.
