Adding a cable jack to a TT

Our TT was a base model and did not come with an exterior cable jack. The cable jack inside near the tv is wired to the antenna. So the only way to get cable into the unit at an RV park is to run it though the window. Which we haven't done yet since it's not the most ideal set up. :(

So is my best bet just running coax through the wall (from the jack inside) to an exterior wall drilling a hole and installing an external jack?
  • I didn't think about running it through the power cable door. The door runs under the rear bottom bunk and the tv is mounted on the other side of the wall form the bunks. So I'll need to find a way to sake the cable under the bunk and around the wall to get to the tv.

Thanks for the feedback and idea. My preference is to drill as few holes as possible in the rv.
  • On an old trailer that had no antenna or cable, I ran a few feet of RG6 cable through the shore power cable door and drilled a hole through interior paneling under the refrigerator and routed to wear the TV would sit then added end connectors. I used this for a portable satellite dish. I had other lengths of cable that I could connect and set the dish wherever I needed.
  • We have a TC, old enough to not have any cable. I installed my own and have the jack attachment just inside the power cable door and run the exterior cable thru the same hole as the power cable.
  • Any way you could run the wire through the hole where your RV electric cord is attached? I did this 2 trailers ago to run cable from our house to the drive way where the camper was parked. Worked quite well, except I did have to drill a hole in the panel under the refrigerator to bring the cable into the interior of the camper, then string the cable along the wall to the television. But still, all it took was one small interior hole as the electric cord hole for the camper had lots of room.
  • I had an exterior television output. I disconnected it inside at the antenna plate and rerouted that cable to a new coaxial cable wallplate I added. Worked great on my last camping trip where the CG had cable TV. So I have to connect the TV to which sources' wallplate I desire.
Otherwise, yup, running a cable through the wall is your best option. I saw a kit on Amazon that was an exterior jack, interior wall plate, and a 12" cable to connect the two, under $20.
My exterior cable input is on the wrong side for connections since it was originally an output so I run the coax under the TT. Cable connections are near the power pedestal. You may want to come in on the side your television is on.
