- ardvarkExplorerKind of hate to see another hole in any roof. A fantastic fan in the bathroom is kind of overkill, but it is pretty common place is other types of RVs.
- work2muchExplorerIs there 120v power cable supplied where the ac will replace the 12 volt fan?
- sasq40ExplorerYeah I'm not crazy about adding another hole. But would like the fantastic fan for our unpowered camping or when we were in town somewhere not dog friendly so they can sit in there.
And yes there is a 110v cable ran near where the fan is now - kerrlakeRooExplorerI don't think I would want an AC in the cab over area. Noise and cold air right on you. I'd put it about 2/3 of the way back in the main area.
- jimh406Explorer IIII wouldn’t want a fan in the bed area either. Are there only two openings in your roof for fans now? Or, are you trying to add a second AC?
- mikakujaExplorerI would personally leave the fantastic fan where it is... Gives you the ability to draw or extract air quickly when needed. When the nights are cool I prefer it to A/C.. If you really want to move it my second choice for it would be the bathroom, as it is a far more effective and quieter fan than the small one in most bathrooms.

Could you not crack the bathroom door with the Fantastic in the bath for more air? - sasq40ExplorerRight now it the camper is setup with the fantastic fan over the bed, and the only other vent is in the bathroom. The camper is prewired with 110 to the over the cab vent. I'm not to worried if I have to move the wiring to get it to a different hole if I choice that option. If I add another 14x14 hole in the middle of the kitchen area do I need to take the whole roof panel off the brace it correctly?
We currently have no ac, but I over heat easy and with our new baby I want to make sure it's a nice comfortable temperature when we we put him down for a nap in the afternoon. - ardvarkExplorerThis is just a thought, but adding an AC unit to the hole that is wired takes very little time. Maybe 30 minutes, once you pull the Fantastic Fan and clean the cauk around the hole. Try it there with the Fantastic in the bathroom (or simply hold off on mounting the Fantastic until you try your camper with the AC over the cabover). If it works out okay it sure would be simply than cutting a hole, running wires, etc.
My two cents - Optimistic_ParaExplorer

So I bought a ac unit for okanagan truck camper. Right now it's got the fantastic fan over the bed were a fantastic fan is installed. Now what I'm wondering is if I should move the fantastic into the bathroom and replace that one or should I cut up a new hole in the main area. Any tips appreciated!
Many - maybe most - of the better companies reinforce the roof where an air conditioner will go by doubling up on the roof framing on either side of it. Lacking that reinforcement, the roof can eventually sag, and water can pool there around the air conditioner rather than run off the roof, leading to inevitable leaks.
Because of that, I would not want to just cut another hole at some random location. If you luck out, the area around that fantastic fan may have the reinforcement, as well as the ac wires.
