Texas law is a tail light cannot be mounted more than 72 inches above the ground.
Sec. 547.322. TAILLAMPS REQUIRED.
(c) Taillamps shall be mounted on the rear of the vehicle:
(1) at a height from 15 to 72 inches; and
(2) at the same level and spaced as widely apart as practicable if a vehicle is equipped with more than one lamp.
(d) A taillamp shall emit a red light plainly visible at a distance of 1,000 feet from the rear of the vehicle.
It is not clear from reading the regulation if more than two taillights/turn signals are legal.
If it confused a drive behind you as to what he was coming up behind it may be unsafe also. They might think it is a low short trailer behind a truck instead of a long RV and attempt to pass thinking they can get around quickly.
