This is my game plan to add additional batteries to the bed of my truck to support my OFF-ROAD POPUP TRAILER operations. I also have a need to run my emergency RADIO OPERATIONS from the truck without the OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer.
I am looking at adding two each TROJAN T-1275 150AH Batteries to the truck bed. I will also have two each Trojan T-1275 150AH Batteries on the tongue of my POPUP trailer. The T-1275 150AH Battery weight in at 82LBS each
I will be using the BLUE SEA SI-ACR Smart relay setup on the truck side that will allow the Truck start battery Alternator setup to charge the battery bank when selected to do so. I will also have the capability of having the Trailer smart mode charging setup to charge the battery bank as well when selected. This also allows the ON-BOARD Converter Charger setup to charge these batteries when connected to the truck bed battery bank. All of this is selected with the use of BLUE SEA four position Battery switches...
I too have some concern that this external battery load may be too much for the truck start battery alternator system without changing it out for something larger. Haven't done any looking into that aspect yet...
Note this drawing shows 110Ah batteries verses 150Ah batteries that I am planing to use now. Read up on how the BLUE SEA SI-ACR RELAY operates from the BLUE SEA site on-line... The main function for me was that the SI-ACR relay only switches in the external battery bank when the truck charge battery side is in its 14.2VDC charge cycle. This keeps the external battery bank from discharging the truck start battery.
Might have some application for your purpose...
I haven't done any of this yet - all in the planning at this point...
(No funds yet additional batteries) The Trojans T-1275s are around $200 at various places...

Thank you - I'll definitely look into this as well.
