Adding shelves to our hybrid

My wife has been asking me for years to add shelves in two of our cabinets. So this past weekend I got it done. I took the bracket out for hanging cloths out and put in shelves. We have a third cabinet at the other end we hang jackets in so we never hung anything in these. We used them for blankets, pillows, towels etc. I used plastic trim that I glued and screwed for supports and lauan plywood for the shelves themselves. Did not need anything heavy for what we are putting on them. And the lauan matched.

I have done the same. My only issue is when items shift on the shelves when driving, the door tends to pop open and stuff will spill out.

If I have properly wedged things while packing, no problem, but I am now looking into a better door latch.
  • Good job!

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why RV manufacturers think that we need hanging rods in our trailers. Even when looking at brand new trailers, I see they still have hanging storage in most of the wardrobes.

I don't know about you, but I have never taken a suit or tux with me when camping. Give me shelves over hanging rods any day.

    Looks nice!

If you put an edge or lip on the front of each shelf the Luan will not fray and be much stronger.

LOL Thanks that's a good idea. That's why I never understood why folks trade up their campers so often. It takes me years to get one fixed up the way I want it. LOL
