Advice Needed: Camping at Fort Wilderness vs a hotel stay

Last time we were there (Nov 2012 with kids and grandkids) we stayed at a Disney hotel. Was very nice. And we were lucky enough to go during a period when they were offering the dining plan for free. Very good food at some of the better Disney restaurants. Hotel was pricey, but free dining plan made it much better. They have that offer at various times per year.
Don't think you can go wrong either way.
