We live near Disney and since my wife works there, we get a pretty good discount on lodging. As a result, we camp at Fort Wilderness often, and also have stayed in most of the hotels. But, the best comparison to make was a stay in early April for our daughter's wedding. That involved Saturday night at the Grand Floridian (night before the wedding), two nights at the Boardwalk (after the reception and the following night), and then a quick trip home to grab the camper and spend 4 nights at Fort Wilderness. Having those stays right in a row gave me a great chance to compare. While all stays were excellent, I would rank them in order of preference as: 1) Fort Wilderness, 2) Boardwalk Resort, 3) Grand Floridian. It all depends on your tastes. Fort Wilderness is very relaxing. Boardwalk is fun and convenient to Epcot. The Grand Floridian is beautiful (although a little stuffy for me) and is convenient to the Magic Kingdom. The Grand is definitely the noisiest. The Boardwalk wasn't bad and Fort Wilderness was nice and quiet.
