Dealers have so few truck campers (maybe it's still early in our area...we are in Wyoming but close to Colorado) so it's tough to see all the models in person. We've been trying to look at a lot online but it's hard to tell. We didn't think we needed a slide until we were in one without and then in one with. We'll keep trying to see them in person. Storage is somewhat important but I'm sure I always took waaaaay too much stuff in our other RV's. We can live with a lot less for sure!
Your timing is a little early - There is truck camper gathering in Colorado Springs this July that would give you great variety of campers to view and many owners with which to interact. Maybe you will be make this trip with your new acquisition.
We also went from a toy hauler to a truck camper for different reasons. Our (my) toy collection continues to grow and we needed a bigger garage. We had to decide whether to get the largest of the toy haulers or think out of the box. We decided on a truck camper with an enclosed trailer in tow so that now we do not haul the garage unless the toys are coming along. We started with a wet bath and a single slide, but have been too spoiled with the space we had in the toy hauler. We definitely like the flexibility of the truck camper but we are going to go to the largest models that offer more room, a dry bath and a side door. Our first step was to upgrade the truck and now we're building up funds for the camper upgrade.
Good to know about the Colorado Springs event in July.
Those are good things to think about with being spoiled with the toy hauler. And even though our motorhome was older, it was really nice and so roomy inside. I suppose we're not really opposed to 2 slides. Three might be a bit much for us though, especially since we'd really hang over the back!
