Just had the DynoMax system installed. The pipe is 5 inches wide (looks like sewer pipe !) replacing the OEM 3 1/4" pipe from the DPF back.
No pollution control fittings or equipment was touched or deleted - There was none that was attached to the OEM exhaust that was removed. There was a VERY small (approx 2x6x10 inch resonator that was part of the OEM exhaust so it was not re-installed.
Initial impressions after driving it for a few days are that at idle, there is little if any increased noise. Around town there may be a little deeper sound, but not much. Same on the highway - maybe a little different and deeper sound. Not in the least objectionable. I repeat - not at all loud. There is no resonance at all. I will have to have someone drive it past me before I can say for sure how much louder then stock it is because it's difficult to tell much from inside the cab.
I like the look of the exhaust tip much better then the OEM version and I expect that this system will flow the exhaust out a lot better due to going from 3.25 to 5 inch pipe diameter. So I'm a happy camper !
I agree what you had installed looks much better than the "flame thrower" exhaust.
In reality it will not make any difference other than make you happier about the looks.
