Air Conditioner Noise

Currently have two campers--Wildcat fifth wheel and an RPod. Purchased Rpod 179 last year to determine if we would be happy downsizing. Really like the unit but determined we want a bed accessible from both sides and a dry bath. Plan is to sell both units and buy a new TT with a maximum length of 24' (Bumper to hitch). Have been looking through this forum and gathering info. One thing we disliked in the RPod was how noisy the air conditioner was. Looked at a Rockwood Mini Lite 2304KS that has ducted air conditioning. In a unit this small would the duct work reduce the noise significantly? Is there a particular AC unit that is readily available and reasonably quiet?

    Correct, however when the inside temp is quite a bit higher than the set temp on the stat, the fan blows on high. When the temp reaches within a couple degrees of set temp, it automatically goes to low fan. When reaching set temp, all shuts off. Now when restarting, it will run on low.

    I've had both, ducted and non-ducted. I can't tell the difference in the sound. You might be able to measure it but they both sound the same to me. Our current TT does have the A/C in the bedroom area and ducted to the living room area and that does cut down on the noise a little in the LR but it's still just as loud in the bedroom as a non-ducted A/C.

    However, we like the noise as it helps us sleep better. We actually run the A/C fan in the winter just to have the noise. Different strokes for different folks I guess. :)

    Ducted will be more quiet.

    But, RV Air Conditioners are noisy because of there design. For a AC to work it has to draw in the warm air, remove the heat from it, and then push that air back into the original space. RV AC's are designed to do this all through a standard roof vent sized hole. Therefore they have to move a lot of air through a small space. That makes for noise.

    Yes, the ducted AC would be more quiet than non-ducted. You close off the rapid cool vent, which reduces much of the noise. Set on auto, the fan will move to low when temp is reduced, at which time I feel comfortable with the sound level.

    I would get ducted air in any size trailer that it was offered.
