I have no direct experience with an air dam. However, I do have experience with bed spacers, that is, platforms to raise an older camper above the rails and cab of a newer truck.

I have built two different spacers for our Jayco/F150 combo. The second spacer reduced the cab over clearance from 4 inches down to 2 inches.

We saw about 1-1/2 mpg improvement with reduced cab over clearance.
