The above is why preloading your suspension with Torklift or Energy Suspension products works so well. If you can get the the upper or lower overload springs to engage earlier, you can use more of the stock suspension. You will loose some suspension comfort when you have longer wheel travel which is why you should preserve some gap between the overload spring when unloaded or have a way of disengaging your preload device when not needed.
