Airfoil, other "V" wind deflectors, and one lead duck

Yesterday Janet and I watched ducks flying in their "V" formation... the air was so hot and humid we could hardly push through it as we did our excercise walk along the lake.

We all were taught how the lead duck breaks the air... makes it easier for all of the other ducks

Thats what makes the airfoil and other "V" shaped wind deflectors work and many of the other gimmicks fail... there has to be one lead duck...

The "Airfoil" isn't smart... it's just applying natures knowledge to our truck campers problem.

The "V" allows the ducks to fly with less energy expended and does the same for our TC's... they move through the air easier...and that saves gas or diesel....

Many other people have correctly used the "V" shaped wind breakers to break the air and move it to the outside of the cabover... and bugs away from the bulkhead.

The only real innovation for the airfoil is to have holes in the wind deflector to keep from building up a low pressure area behind the airfoil and sucking road dirt up between the trucks cab and the trucks bed into the area of the campers bulkhead where we are trying to keep the bugs from hitting.

...........

You just can't fool mother nature can you?

The ducks adjust the angle of their "V" as they fly until it feels just right... we have to work to perfect that as much as possible.

Thats where you come in... your suggestions and experiments are welcome.

... I still remember doing simple experiments with my hand hung out the car window when I started looking for a solution

Thanks

How to build an airfoil.

Don't duck. Others should put links to their "V" wind deflectors 8>)
