30 years ago, you could buy a fine VW 1600 engine for $300, or buy a whole pallet of engines.

now, an engine worth having runs $4500, they pretty much give the cars away because there are no engines.

that van would be worth thousands in any condition; $40,000 or so in that condition

VWs are now a hobby for people with disposable income by the wheelbarrow.
