Alternatives to Lance 2185 Travel Trailer

Did you look at the Outdoorsrv Creekside 23BHS

I'm at Pismo Beach for the 4th and after a long day at the beach my wife and I headed tow local RV dealer to see the Grand Design 2400BH (& 2800BH) and the Dutchman Kodiak Ultimate 240BHSL (?).

Both are nice trailers but we're not sold on either at this point. The bedroom in the GD was nice and set up really well but the mattress would need to be replace. Kind of cheap. The dinette on both rigs used wimpy cushions. Neither my wife or I are heavy but we sank to the plywood.

Neither are perfect but I'm glad I was able to see these models in person. I will keep you all posted.

Thanks for posting this. We were looking at similar trailers in this size and I'm curious where you end up, and also appreciate the input from others here.

Lastly, we were seriously considering the Lance 2185 (were heading to see one tomorrow) but this is a sad and cautionary tale, and I'll hold off on Lance given your experiences. They should have stepped up to make it right, and not given you the run-around.

Pull up pictures of the Timber Ridge 23DBS, and the Black Rock 23BKS, side by side on your screen. Presto, identical trailer!

Timber Ridge is just dressed up a little more with features. The Black Rock also comes standard with the X4 off-road, package. Heavy duty shocks, Mor-Ryde suspension, greasable shackle bolts, bronze inserts, extra ground clearance.

I think the choice really depends on what type of camping and roads you will take, and how important the dress up items are. I actually like the rugged look of the Black Rock counter tops over the solid tops in the Timber Ridge.

Yes - looked at both. I would actually prefer the Blackrock. The frame and off road package looked solid. My wife liked the Timber Ridge finish.

No discernable sagging and no leaks on my Lance with an admittedly flat roof.

I also like the Timber Ridge 23DBS.

The lance trailers I have seen have flat roofs. When you place an air conditioner on it , it will sag a little and water will drain to that low spot.....

I made a list

I looked at several trailers this afternoon with my wife and we (she) ruled out a couple of models. I think I'm narrowing down my list to these trailers:

1. Outdoor RV Creek side 21DBS (East West bed)
2. Outdoor RV Timber Ridge 23DBS
3. Cruiser RV Fun Finder 23BH (smallish tanks, no ladder)

Grand Designs 2400BH looks nice on paper but the 2 dealers in my area are far away. I'll keep you all posted.
