My aluminum box was on my trailer with four batteries and I never had any corrosion or battery cables flying around. It would be a good thing to add a battery disconnect switch so you can turn off the power to the trailer when in storage...
I might add that batteries seem to do fine under the hoods of our cars without off gassing or fear of corrosive gas...
It is my understanding and I could be wrong that car batteries usually only emit gas when they are in a over charged state...
