Aluminum step?

The wife wants one of those folding ,adjustable steps for the times that we dry camp, and the first step ,gets a might high for her. Is one brand better than another? Looking at one of the ones at Camping world (kinda had sticker shock). Anyone recommend a brand? Thank you
  • We have had one from Camping World for a few years now. While it works well and is sturdy, you should know the rubber feet lasted for a very short time. The sharp edges of the legs cut right through the feet. The good news is that those same sharp edges hold a stable place on the concrete, blacktop, whatever. The only problem I would see is that, if you want to use it in dirt or mud, the hollow legs would fill right up and, eventually, affect the functionality of the folding mechanism (which is in each leg). Yes, they are a little steep in price but, in my opinion, a less sturdy step is trouble waiting to happen.
  • We were sticker shocked also at the price CW wanted for them. We found a really nice sturdy step at Harbor Freight for around $20.It's aluminum and the legs fold for easy storage. That was quite a few years ago. I don't know if they still carry them but you might try checking them out.
