Just a quick update.
I am well pleased with this oil. I am at 8k miles on this Amsoil OE oil and it looks like I just poured it into the crankcase. Not only is the oil clear it still has the amber color to it. I know its superficial... but this is a first for me.
I have NEVER had an oil look this good... even Mobil 1 looked like black soot at 5k miles in my wifes former gasser VW Jetta.
I've ordered a Oil Analysis kit from Blackstone Labs and look forward to seeing what the actual health of my wonderful Pentastar V6 is along with the actual data of the performance of the Amsoil OE.
I'll post the results of the analysis here too if you all are interested.
Thanks!
Jeremiah
You do know that the color of an oil in the crankcase has no bearing on how it's protecting? Your Blackstone test is a much more accurate assessment. As another poster had mentioned-Amsoil does buy base stocks from Mobil oil and others.
Exactly, and 100% correct.
In fact, as Hannibal pointed out, and correctly, if your oil does not change color it "can" be a bad thing. It might not have right detergent package in it to do the correct job. We see this with street engines running race oil in them.
