Anderson anti sway hitch

Anyone use or have experience with this hitch. I currently have a Reese dual cam, but thought about upgrading to the Anderson hitch on my new camper.

Thanks!!

  • I'm using the Andersen as well and really like it. It is easy to hitch and unhitch. The sway control works very nicely and it's a quiet hitch. We put almost 4K miles on it this last season with no issues at all.

If your tongue weight is going to be over 750-800lbs there have been some reports of difficulty returning enough load back to the front axle. Since I have a lighter tongue weight - around 450lbs - I've not had any trouble returning 100% load back to the front axle. I know that Andersen made some adjustments to the polyurethane bushings to help with that. The spare I bought to have on hand while traveling was about an inch shorter and a bit stiffer.

Also, some have noted that the frame brackets can slip at first. Usually there is a small amount of slip when you first tighten the chains. Once set in place they tend to stay though. In my case I did have the brackets tack-welded which is an option to deal with slip detailed in the installation guide.
  • It is a great hitch for those of us have the right equipment to start with. Change the spelling to Andersen and you will discover hundreds of reviews. Pay the most attention to those who have actually used one.
  • I have one on mine really like it. I just need to get my set right to a loaded trailer.
