Anderson w/d hitch

Andersen 'No-Sway' Weight Distribution Hitch Andersen WD Hitch #3350

Anyone using one of these? I would appreciate any comments on this specific hitch if you are using one or have used one.
Thanks
  • I have everything but the ball and plate to my Anderson sway control. Chains, mounts ext. I'll cut you a steal of a deal if you just buy the ball, plates and drop you need
  • I have the 3324 kit which is the same as the 3350 except it has 2" ball instead of 2 5/16". I put almost 4000 miles on it this last season and it has done a great job. It has been very stable and the sway control works well. My tongue weight usually runs about 450lb and I easily get 100% FALR using the default amount of chain tension.

From the research I did before purchasing I saw a larger number of folks with heavier tongue weights - usually above 750-800lb - that expressed some trouble getting enough load restoration on the front axle. The only complaint I have is that I did end up having to tack weld the brackets in order to keep them from slipping under tension.

That is the same impression I got when researching information on the Anderson w/d hitch a little while back. I decided it wasn't the best hitch in my case.

I used the Andersen for a year with a 16' TT and 350-390 lb hitch weight, and I liked the WDH fine. Cleaner, lighter, and easier to use than an Equal-i-zer I've owned in the past, and it did what it was supposed to do. When I sold that trailer, the buyer wanted the Andersen so it went along in the deal.

It's my understanding that it's limited to lighter tongue loads. Somewhere around #600. Is that correct?

Like most things, "It depends". Some tow vehicles can carry a pretty hefty tongue weight without any weight distribution, while others require maximum help.

Example: A Silverado 2500HD tows nicely with the Andersen and 800 pounds or more of tongue weight. A pickup with less capacity may not.

The trick is to get actual weights and capacities before spending your money.
