Another 2014 RAM 2500 Squat

We hauled 1 1/2 tons of rock home yesterday (2,982 pounds to be exact). That load was right at our payload so my wife and I along with our young son put us over the payload by about 500 pounds.

The truck handled it fine. The steering definitely felt a bit looser, but there was plenty of power (with the 6.4L HEMI) and the transmission in T/H Mode handled the shifting flawlessly. We went about 15 miles and never got above 45 or 50 MPH.

I would obviously never travel far with that much weight on this truck, but it is definitely up to the challenge for weekend warrior jobs.

I wouldn't hesitate to put 2,000 pounds on the pin and haul it with the family in the cab. We would still be under all of our limits and the engine is more than up to that task (assuming a 10K gross fiver).

This was a 3,000 pound load right over the rear axle. That extra 1K over the axle makes a big difference. I wouldn't buy a 2500 gasser for a 15K fiver (3K pin weight), I'm just saying it can handle it with ease if it has to. I understand that much weight will cause it to break down eventually and I wouldn't travel long distances under that load.
