Another Arctic Fox 1140 / 1150?

Our 1080 wet bath which was the predecessor to the 1140, is great. Tons of storage. Friends with a fifth-wheel said no doubt we had way more than them. Like the 1140 (1080) floorplan better than the 1050.

Just buy a 3 inch piece of foam cut to fit. That insulates very well.

Really enjoying our 990 that was purchased in like new condition and always stored inside. Love the wet bath as it gives more floor space and is not a problem to use. One negative feature is I wish I had more storage but after all it is a camper and you can't expect too much. Also wish I had the Fox Landing and may spend the big bucks to upgrade that item.

Our's is an '06 1150 wet bath bought used but in brand new condition. The older couple from AZ traded it along with their F-350 into a dealer for a Class A. I already had a capable truck from previous TC's and a big toyhauler. It has held up well so far (2nd season). I've had to replace a couple screws that hold the curtain ends to the walls after they got loose and stripped. Two cabinted hinge screws stripped out and replaced, and now I see one screw on top of the sliding bathroom door is sitting up high. All minor fixes.
The only thing I don't like is the location of, and 6 pin rectangular plug from the camper to the truck. A previous TC had a nice access door into the truck bed and a standard 7 pin round plug.
Finally a side door would be nice for easier access while towing or just anytime.
Definitly would buy again.

Holding up well entering my 10th season in a AF990. A few initial leak issues, but all else has been great over the years. All pros, for cons only that a dually is needed. Next TC could be a non-slide out, lighter Arctic Fox suitable for a SRW.

My 2011 AF 1150 Dry Bath is doing well. We our on our fourth camping season with it. About 50 nights a year in it.
Repairs/Fixes we've done:
1. Slider-Pass through window leaked when driving in heavy rain, replaced with a solid non opening window. Issue solved.

2. Right rear tail LED light went out, replaced it.

3. LED Marker light went out, replaced it.

4. Bathroom over the mirror is currently out, is not the light bulb. New fixture sitting in garage.

5. Replaced the batteries. They were drained when one 15 amp fuse blew on the converter. So the batteries drained out to zero with the furnace on low.

6. Replaced one 15 amp fuse. (see #5)

Overall we are happy with our camper. We bought new for a great price from a great dealer. We feel we've really gotten a great product for the money we spent. It is holding up well.

No issues yet with the big things like the genny, ref, A/C, furnace or leaks.


Next camper question is a lot tougher...
Next camper is still a few years out. We will certainly be looking at Arctic Fox campers again, maybe the 992 or 996. Likely our next camper will be a side door model since we tow most of the time we are camping. I really hope AF does bring out a side door model in the next few years.

Ours is a 2008 AF 1140 dry bath.
Its a good working camper, built solid and lots of storage.
Bought used. No solar. Single pane windows.

We have used it extensively - most recent trip was five months and 7000+ miles.
The trip was to Puerto Vallarta/Guadalajara, etc.
Lots of rough roads down there.

I like the Reico-Titan jacks and would have no other.
The 8-cubic foot refrigerator Great!
I hate the air-conditioner - in humid weather it leaks water into the camper. (I took it apart and found that there is no condensation drainage - it depends on a fan to handle the moisture - which is inadequate.) The AC is on/off - no digital thermostatic control.

The dry bath is smaller (narrower) than the one in my old Eagle Cap 1150.
The dinette table spacing is made for Extremely large people and wastes a lot of space - it took a while to figure that one out.
I don't understand the thinking of mounting the smoke detector directly over the stove.
There is back-twisting storage area behind stove and is accessible from the dinette bench seat.
My analysis of the AF 1140 model is that:
1) it is build tough and has lots of storage.
2) it uses quality parts where needed but is cheap on the accessories.
3) massively heavy - an easy 5000 pounds when loaded.
4) its a little weak in design and has room for improvement.

I've looked at several manufacturer models and have yet to find one that passes muster in every area. However, I would examine the AF 1140 and 1150 if choosing a new camper along with inspecting the Eagle Cap 1160 and 1165 models as a equal choice.
I like the Eagle Cap theater seating option and use of quality parts throughout.
However, as a personal choice, I prefer the slide out to be on the passenger side opposite as shown on their floor plan.

The difficulty in choosing a camper is being able to find and look at models available from different manufacturers.
But as I like to say, any camper is better than no camper at all.

Ours is holding up just fine. Just a little bit of a slide-out sag is the only con I can honestly say Im not happy with. Other than that, its been perfect.

Would we buy another?.......Absolutely.

Don't have one of the long models but so far thoroughly impressed with my 860. Had it for over a year now and virtually no issues buying an 8 yr old used camper.
I would get a AF again for sure.
