I think you would be looking at more like a $1000 parts and labor.
One from a salvage yard may need more work. New brakes, parking brakes, etc.
As long as ring and pinion is good it shouldn't be too bad.
Spiders are fairly easy to do.
Standard differential, support vehicle, remove rear wheels, remove cover from differential, remove axle retaining clips, remove axles, remove locking bolt, remove spider pin and they should come out. Reverse procedure to install. This is basics only. You would need to research your exact differential configuration.
