Anti-sway bars ??

I have airbags and Torklift's Stable load - any advantages of adding anti sway bars. I'd rather not spend the $$ . Thanks all!

  • I would install one. We put a big wig on my dad's 2500 and it was a huge difference.

I put the standard bar on my truck and it was a great improvement, much better than airbags alone. I don't run a TC, but I have about 1100lbs of 4wheel and rack above the bed rails and over 7K on the rear axle.
  • I really like my Big Wig. Had I known it would be such a great improvement even driving around unloaded, I would have done it years ago. Do it, it's something you will like having all the time and not just when loaded up.
  • My 2014 SRW F350 did not include a rear sway bar. It is an option if you order the camper package. I bought my truck off the dealer lot (or I would have ordered the package).

I also am considering adding a sway bar. So far it rides well with lower stableloads as the only suspension add on.
  • thanks all. my SRW does not have them - I too was surprised. Total weight is 12.5k and I run 60psi on the bags. I don't experience any sway unless I enter a parking lot slightly camber. I want to keep improving on my rig, so that's why I am considering them. I might hold off based on what I am reading. I also heard that going odd road with them doesn't work well and. I do go to the desert in the winter.
  • They might have been made an option on the SRW trucks at some point, so it's possible his 350 came without.

Stable-Loads allow you to tune when the overloads kick in... airbags do the same. Neither directly addresses excessive sway, unless you get some benefit from the engagement of the overload springs.
  • If you're running Stable Loads try lower air pressure in the bags. Air bags tend to unload the suspension. 45psi? The Swaybar does make a difference if your vehicle isn't already equipped. Can't answer if you need it or not. How much weight on the rear axle? Tire capacity? I found my sway bar on Craigslist. Previous owner moved to next generation truck. He parted out all the extras.
  • Your truck dosen't have them already? If not, they do improve the handleing
The reason I ask is I've seen very few F-350's without them.

It depends. Do you experience any sway?
  • There are advantages or they wouldn't be made. I've never used aftermarket ones on either my DRW or the previous SRW.

Other options that you should consider first include making sure you are running 80 lbs in the rear and possibly go near that in the front. You can also move to adjustable heavier shocks like the Rancho 9000s.

Do you have Stableload uppers or lowers? If you have lowers, I'd also consider extended bump stops or uppers.
