Any Hybrids NOT leak?

This summer we moved from a TT back to a PUP, but it's just not working for us. Seems once you've had a bigger trailer it's hard to go back. That being said, I thought about looking into hybrids but see a lot for sale and have read a lot about people with leaks and water damage thta's been "fixed". After dealing with this on our first TT (a Coachmen sieve) I really don't want to get into floor replacement again or any other kind of damage. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

  • we camped in our Jayco 23b this past weekend. 3 inches of rain thunder lightening and high winds Saturday night. If it didn't leak then it is not going to!
  • AirForce, the problem is that most people that DON'T have leaks, rarely post about that.
what you get on forums like this, are those looking for help with problems, not to brag that they don't have any problems.

using forums like this one, to use as a measuring stick, is going to give a very skewed/biased view.

once in awhile, a thread is started here that gives those without leaks in their hybrid a chance to post about that.

that said, i've had my Roo 23SS for nearly 7 years now and have had zero leaks.

and it's been my experience/opinion/viewpoint, after being on 6 different Hybrid forums for 8 years, that the majority of hybrids built DON'T leak.
  • We had 1 hybrid and 3 pop-ups and none of them leaked. But I did clean and spray the canvas every year with a water proofer. Actually, trailers and motorhomes are pretty likely to leak.
  • No leakage problems with our'07 ROO EXCEPT for 1 trip on the interstate during a monsoon and it was very slight and front bunk only. The rain was heavy enough DH pulled off the interstate twice to let it blow by. We knew to check for dampness as soon as we opened up and found a small amount, but a towel took care of it and no damage whatsoever. Hybrids are a great experience and aside from age creeping up much faster than we expected, and the extras involved in setting up, we'd still have ours and still love it. NEVER expected we'd have a hardside TT! We made the move to a TT in May, and while we love it and it was a wise decision for us, it's not our ROO. They've made a lot of improvements in seals and systems since then and I think you'll find that probably 95% of owners don't have problems. There is always the chance that you'll be in that 5%, but that could happen with any RV. Since you've been the PUP route, you know about the canvas, so no surprises there. It's nice to tow something about 23' and when you get set up you suddenly have 30' of great space. I think you should look further into this and go into it with the thought that you'll be in the 95%. Good luck.
