Any Open Range owners here????

We just bought our first RV... Its an Open Range 323 RLS.... it is so sweet.... all residential appliances.... king bed..... wow, retirement is going to be great..... going full time in May...
  • We have a 2014 274RLS, and had no problem except for a blown fuse in our power tongue jack. So not all 274RLS's were bad...

Open Range did not go bankrupt. They were bought out by Jayco, and are run by the original management team as a wholly owned subsidiary. They have always had a 2 year warranty.

I hate to throw a wet blanket over someones plans but please check previous posts on our 274 Open Range Light. Lots of warranty work issues and legal action threatened and eventually they paid us off to forestall legal issues. If you care check my previous posts on this problem or pm me for specific details. Best of Luck.

I searched and you have 15 pages of posts and I wasn't really able to find out much about your Open Range problems. However, what I did find looked like this. You purchased an Open Range from the the original Open Range manufacturer and 12 months into your warranty that company went bankrupt.

Some time after that someone (Jayco I think) purchased the Open Range line out of bankruptcy and you claim they refused to honor the warranty of the previous company that went bankrupt.

If that is wrong please correct me. If that is correct can you explain why Jayco should have honored the warranty you got from a bankrupt company?

I've had almost no interaction with Jayco or Open Range for any warranty repairs but am just curious what to expect if I do. I purchased mine after Jayco owned the line so I shouldn't have any issues regarding the previous bankruptcy.

It's my understanding that in bankruptcy proceedings all liabilities of the previous organization are terminated and the new owner is under no obligation to honor those claims. Perhaps Jayco/Open Range then provided you with a cash settlement simply because it was the easiest thing to do.

I'm really not trying to be critical, just trying to find out what happened without having to read thru 15 pages of posts that kind of look like the mods may have deleted some of them. Everything I hear from current Open Range owners says that the warranty service of the Open Range line is fantastic. Obviously you have a different opinion.
    Thanks

PS-I did hear they got a bunch of bad Lippert frames sometime in 2012 or so and that they are having problems with cracks where the cross beams intersect with the main frame rails. However, it is my understanding they are making all the necessary repairs (with Lipperts help) to those units regardless of warranty status or when they were purchased.
  • Congrats! Just checked out a youtube video and it's really beautiful.

  • I have a 2015 216RBS. Had it about 6 months so far. One of the best quality RVs I've ever had.
  • We have had an Open Range Roamer since 2011 and absolutely love it. No problems to speak of.
