Ok, found the Predator. It sounded real nice, much better than yesterday when he said he was burning up some bad gas. With fresh gas, it's fine. (I have no idea why anyone would do that, but that's what he said.)
It was running a small load of an outdoor Karaoke system. Could barely hear it. When asked if it would run his air, answer "no, you'd need two for that." They can be paralleled.
So yeah, it's a pretty sweet deal, and that's saying a lot coming from this die-hard old Honda guy. He's only owned it a year and hasn't worked it very much and doesn't plan to. I think, for its price, one would assume the longevity and service may not be the best, but, if it fits your needs, I'd say it's a nice buy.
On a personal note, this camper and I are the only ones with inverter gens. Everyone else, and that means about 8, have extra-loud open frame ones. A guy and his buddy are running, side by side, a Briggs and Stratton, and a big Champion. It sounds like they're doing a tree-trimming operation...it's loud. But it's hot, and everyone needs air, so as long as it's quiet by 10pm I'll survive. I'm just lucky I'm not parked near that din.
