What is the max hitch capacity on the new generation of F150s? That can be a limiting factor.
I tow an 8k trailer with truck in my signature. It has done very well for me. My truck scales at 6,200 and has a max hitch load with WD of 1150. Ready to roll I have a little more weight on the truck axles than on the trailer axles.
The new version of this truck is about 700 lbs lighter and you are towing more trailer. I would take a serious look at the F250. From what I have read on this forum the Ram 2500 and 6.4 get pretty reasonable milage too.
