They both have their pros and cons.
You have to choose the one that works for your needs and budget.
I was skeptical when I bought my truck, but I have been very pleasantly surprised at how it has performed and how much it cost me. Here is Canada, the diesel (and associated auto trans) is about a 10k upcharge. Not worth it to me, and I was less interested in diesel for a number of reasons I detailed in this thread......
