I've noticed most sigs on this forum indicate pretty new TVs. I am towing with a '91 F350 Dually that has only been used for RV'ing. Initially it pulled a 5er, then had a Lance TC mounted on it for about 9 years and now pulls a '09 TT. Total miles on the truck is less than 80K. Anybody else with an older truck like this? The biggest issue is when something breaks you may not find the part without a lot of scrambling around, but it still runs and tows like a dream.

Not as old as yours but close, I did replace the engine with factory new and the transmission exchanged with a Jasper. See my sig line.

Mine is a 2002 2500HD. Just hit 92,000 and still young. My only concern is a breakdown somewhere that may take some extra days to get a part, but it's not a worry. Other than the bells and whistles of a new rig, it is an awesome truck.

I tow with a bit of an older rig. Mine is a 1996 Chevy C3500 Dually. Original transmission and original 454. Runs and tows great.

Ours isn't as old. It's a 2000 Dodge Dakota with over 200,000 miles on it. We've agreed to NOT go a long distance (like Alaska) for another 2 years, then we'll buy a new pickup. :) :) This PU reminds me of that watch that takes abuse and just keeps on ticking.

Mine is a 04, and that brings up another question. "Some" CG have a ten year rule for the RV. Does that include the TV?

still towing w/our 1998 F-150 Supercab w/tow package. bought new in Oct 1997. has 59k on the clock and on it's 3rd RV...looks and runs as well as the day we bought it. only used for towing, hauling kayaks or mountain bikes, and the occasional big stuff from HD or Lowes...

Up until about 3 years ago I towed all over with an 89 GMC SRW 1 ton. Tons of miles never let me down...I finally updated to a 2002 Chevy Silverado 3/4 ton.
It now has 35,000 miles on it. Only used to tow the trailer.

Much better than the old one ton, but the one ton was not to bad for what it did for me!

2002, I guess that is getting old. :)

2000 Ford F350....and we plan on owning it a LONG time going forward. Neither my wife or I want to have a truck as a daily driver, so putting alot of money into a vehicle that will basically sit more than it will be driven is not a good investment.

So we went looking back in 2011 after we sold our Ford Excursion...wanted a Ford...wanted the 7.3L PSD like our Excursion had... great engine.

Love the older truck....it has character.

I tow with the TV listed in my signature....113,000 miles on it

It's only used for towing the TT or if one of our daily drivers re in the shop.

I get the regular maintenance done, Don't carry spare parts. I have AAA Platinum (200 miles towing) for the TV and Good Sam ERS for the TT.

I have gone all over the East Coast with no problems and I don't let the age of it scare me.

I carry a few of the most common failure parts with me too. But, I've found that these days most towns have a parts store that will have most of the components I need. I may have to stay over night in the TT somewhere close by but, that's OK. I keep a full set of tools with me wherever I go.
