- mkirschNomad IIRight, you're going to want one of the big triple-slide TC's at minimum to fulltime in. The problem with them is that they challenge the payload capacity of even the best DRW 1-ton trucks out there these days, and on top of that you are looking to tow a trailer with 1000-1500lbs of tongue weight, on a 48" extension.
It's one thing to head out like that for a few weekends a year, but to hit the road and never look back... I don't think the truck will hold up over the long haul. - zb39ExplorerI have owned 1 gas class c, 1 gas class a, 2 class A diesel pushers. 40 and 45 feet. 1 5th wheel, and 3 TC's.
They all have there pros and cons. Each MH was owned for at least 6 years and driven close to 10k miles a year. At the same time I also owned a TC. They get used for diff things, diff trips. There are class A DP under 34 feet these days, but they can only tow 5k. step up to 37 feet and it's 10k. Lots of choices in the small class a DP and the super c. Not all super c are 40 foot plus. It pays to look around a lot if your going to only own 1.
We are thinking of selling the 5th wheel and going back to a 37 DP. We will be keeping the mammoth.
Again they are used differently. - bighatnohorseExplorer IIIn a chat with an old timer at Quartzite I was told that a diesel pusher was his choice. (I asked.) He had owned everything from TC's, TT and C's and his preference was to NOT have the engine under his feet. Rear engine drives are quieter, have less vibration and reduce driver fatigue.

In answer to your question: No. But I have met a guy that went from a Super C to a pop-up TC and a small motorcycle style trailer. - hbskiExplorer

The other thing is slide-outs. Ours in a 1996 model is 9' 10" with no slide outs. We would a LOT more room with 10' something with a couple of slide outs.

FYI some of the Super Cs I linked can be had as a 4x4. Particularly the one built on the Ram 5500 chassis. And they are offering that one in a 32 footer soon - BradWExplorer II

We've had our Lance 500 for +20 years and have lots of fun with it. We have pulled boats, flat towed jeeps and pulled a car hauler trailer with a jeep on it of many 1000's of miles. As retirement approaches and 2 week trips turn into 2 or 3 month trips, we have started looking at bigger rigs.
We had planned on a new F-350 drw and a new Lance 1062, but we have seen several supper c's that really make more sense for the long trips we have planned pulling a jeep, boat or a double decker trailer hauling both.
I definitely will miss the 4wd and the ability to get into smaller spots. We are still thinking; haven't decided anything yet.
We just came back from 2 weeks in Silverton, Co Jeepin'. I had to drive by this really nice super c (nexus/international IIRC). It was really nice.
