Anyone Replace Light Fixture Over Dinette?

I have one of those "pancake" lights over the dinette and it just makes it looks "blah." I'd like to give it a punch-up and make it look like a dining room, per se. I took down the pancake light and noticed that the 8 screws will limit my choice in a fixture. Anyone else do this mod?

  • I am definitely going to switch to LED. I found a 3 down-tiered fixture that will work well and cover all 8 holes from the pancake fixture. Just wanted a little something "different."
  • I changed all my camper lights out to LEDs. You can just change out the bulbs with LED replacement lights if that is what you want to do. My old original lights were all dry rotted from 43 years in the hot AZ desert. The LED fixture that I chose wasn't the best looking, but it works great.
  • If you switch to LED's be sure the light output is satisfactory for all uses of the table eg. reading, etc.
  • my 21T komfort came with 2 of the 2.5 amp 22 watt flourescents.
one in the bathroom , one over the dinette
plenty of light to read with these tired eyes .
  • what are you looking for? are you looking for more/better lighting or are you looking to make a fashion statement?
more/better lighting is easy to do.
you will never make it look like a dinning room!
  • Try to go with Led lights if possible. Much lower heat output, so you can leave them on without concern for overheating.
  • I replaced my dual lightfixture that draws 2.4 amps max to a 22 watt florescent light, that provides much more light.

Are you thinking of replacing it with something with a chandelear look? There are 12 volt DC lights for boats that look really nice and will work in a RV as well. But something that is swinging will not work well while driving.

    Do a search for lighting.
