B&W is supposed to be top of line , yet people drop their fifth wheels with them.
Say it ain't so!
It's EXTREMELY unlikely because of the SIMPLE solid NO questions if you are hitched system, I have heard of ONE and have seen ONE drop, both had their handle pinned open. Have heard of MANY others being dropped and have a pic of one but will not post at this time.
For $500 deducible I will depend on my eyes not another device. If I drop mine Y'all will be the first to know with pics!
I've never heard of anybody dropping their fiver while using an Andersen setup.
:B
True and I bet some do a pull test with it but IMHO it's not needed.
Wow ! I do agree, but very doubtful anyone would do a pull test. Not having the ball in the coupler on the Andersen would be about as inept as pinning open a B&W then driving off without doing a pull test. :) There is basically two steps with the Andersen one is lowering the pin box on the ball, and the other locking it .
While on the subject I have never heard what is the reasoning behind locking the B&W open :@ Having a hitch that stays open until backed into then it will close, there is no way I can keep it open when backing in . - Cummins12V98Explorer III

The Reese two jaw hitch is the same way. If the jaws are around the pin and above the flange like on the B&W, you're hitched. Put the latch on the release handle and, lock it and it won't walk open on a turn. - cummins2014Explorer

Sorry double post

Oh ! boy now you did it :B Here they come with the safety chains, having to raise it another couple inches etc etc etc.
I too really like the Andersen, just waiting for the puck system to come out in Feb. 2017 to fit the factory fifth wheel preps.
Sorry double post - cummins2014Explorer

Your defense of a hitch is truly remarkable . I would thing you best position would be to promote good hitching procedures instead of defending a hitch. Yes YOUR hitch can result in a dropped fifth wheel
As much as you would like to think that it is the hitch that prevents drops, its good hitching procedures, and you promoting no pull tests does not add anything to helping the beginners or uniformed. Lets help some of them instead.
If all a bedsaver does is give a person a peace of mind, and regardless of your mindset, then by all means get one, or just the fact that if you happen to say, pin open your handle on a B&W it would prevent a dropped fifth wheel. Again yes people drop fifth wheels with ALL hitches.
Regardless of what YOU have heard, there are probably MANY dropped fifth wheels with all hitches. - Cummins12V98Explorer III
