Apache Trail Day 2

Heading north on the Apache Trail with some stops along the way.

Beautiful Sonoran Sunrise.

Browns Peak up in the clouds.

Forbidden fruit.

Hiking to the rim of Fish Creek Canyon for a look own at the switchbacks.

The Apache Trail far below, as it heads north to Apache Lake.

Fish Creek Canyon.

Apache Trail along the cliff.

Hiking back from the rim.

Down the switchbacks, Browns in the background, again.

Narrow two lane, with the occasional need to yield to each other. Saw a nice Outfitter on a white Ford 350 coming up. Anyone here?

Fish Creek Bridge. Good hiking up this canyon.

North end of Apache Lake.

Roosevelt Lake.

Camp............

We used to own land up at Utah's Bear Lake, this place reminds me a lot of Utah, except a more desert version.

Sun setting on Browns Peak.

Morning coffee view.

And home. We live full time in a fifth wheel and travel for work, but we also own a truck camper.......coming home to our fifth wheel feels luxurious after the truck camper.

Working the next three days, then leaving for another four day trip next week. Then another one the week after. Life is good right now.

Please note, the maximum photo width=640.

  • Roy,
I've driven the trail a half-dozen times and we've had no issues with Rangers when we've boondocked along the route. Here's us boondocking in a highly visible spot at Fish Creek.

Did you have any trouble with the rangers camping anywhere you wanted to. We had a couple of problems one time and were asked to move on by the rangers... The only Public camping spots were close to three lakes...

Fish Canyon was interesting - One dude with a big bus tried to go around your picture with the low rock over hang and crashed into it blocking the road for both directions. We was coming back on this trip and then camped out at the bottom of the fish canyon at a pull out close to where your bridge picture was taken. There was a bunch of cars pulled off there as well waiting for the road to open back. Since we had all kinds of camping facilities with out JEEP SETUPS we had a great time with the crowd there... It was a good 6-8 waiting for the road to open back up.

We all kept hollering up to the canyon to just push the bus off the ridge hehe... There was a few wrecks already piled up at the bottom of Fish Canyon.

Fun times back then on the APACHE TRAIL.

  • apparently there are other people out there besides me that think the desert is a beautiful place.
