The tape can be a real bear to deal with on a nice straight, flat seam. You will have your work cut out for you in this application. The way that I think I would try it is to lay it down on your roof with close to an inch hanging over the gutter side. Once you have it down, fold the 1" lap down over the gutter trim & screws.
