After meditating on this for lo these many minutes, and after thinking back to what I wished I could haul with my old Tundra Crewmax, I believe I've decided to be happy or even thrilled with the prospect of easily carrying a Northern Light Sportsman (or whatever they have that will hold a generator) and not having to think twice about capacity. If, after one year of trying it out it proves to be too much of a hassle, we can upgrade to a dually and bigger camper.
