Arctic Fox TC and Coleman AirXcel Mach 1 11000 BTU P.S.

I ordered an Arctic Fox Truck Camper some time ago and patiently await. I ordered it without an on board generator and with an 11,000 BTU Air Conditioner. It is important for me to be able to run my AC with a generator. My plan, based on careful study of some more experienced people (you all) is to use a Honda eu2000 for this purpose. A key part of my decision is an understanding (assumption) that Northwood has for at least the recent past been using the Coleman Mach 1 11000 Power Saver. I have called Coleman AirXcel and they confirmed that the Mach 1 uses less than 10 amps on high cool. This makes it more efficient than the smaller low profile Mach 8 9200 Cub which uses about 11 amps.

Here is the problem and my question. This year,Arctic Fox has added an option for the low profile Mach 8 9200 Cub. I don't want it! I called the Northwood factory and asked them if they could confirm what model they are using for the 11,000 BTU AC. The guy at Northwood said he didn't know and could not confirm. I called my dealer and the salesman there is looking into it. If I cannot confirm, I have to go with the Mach 8 Cub as I know it will work with a Honda eu2000 Generator. I would appreciate any comments from anyone that has a newer Arctic Fox Truck Camper using the factory installed 11000 BTU AC and a Honda eu2000i.

    Unsure on the TC assdembly line, but on the RV line, they use the Power Saver 11k BTU.

    If the factory guy didn't know, then he was too lazy to investigate.

    I'd call back and ask again, and get someone that knows.

    THe 11K BTU "power saver" isn't a low profile. It's just as tall as the 13.5k BTU.

    Unless you specify the 9200, it should come with the 11K PS model. That's the one you want, as you know.

    I was pleasantly surprised to discover that's the one I got. I was concerned the camper already had a 13.5K unit and wouldn't be able to run with my Honda 2K.
    I can tell you the 11K is indeed a power saver. The Honda will run the A/C, fridge and any interior lighting needs. Presumably, it powers the converter as the genny has never shut off or overloaded with everything running.

    So while I can't help you confirm you'll get an 11k PS model, I can tell you
    you need to somehow find out that's what your getting before it's too late. I had the same dilemma.

    To reiterate what trailexplorer said...the 11K has the same dimensions as a full size 13.5 unit. It's not low profile at all. But I'm ok with that. I believe anutami (Nolan) specifically ordered a 9200 and is not all happy with it.

    That is great information and exactly what I was looking for. Trail-explorer is right. I need to call Northwood back and ask them to confirm what AC is put on the camper when choosing the 11K BTU option. I will do that and post the response.

    OK, Called Northwood back and did a better job of explaining why this is important to know. The gentlemen there was very helpful and got the information from the purchasing department on what type of unit Northwood is currently using for the 11K BTU AC Unit. He confirmed that it is the MACH 1 Power Saver. My faith in Northwood has returned and I am looking forward to being a happy camper when I take delivery.

    I have a 2015 AF 990 & I looked in my manual to see which one I have & I don't see anything that tells me which one I have. It does say it is a 48000 Series.
    I have a model Model# and a Serial# so I guess I will send Airxcel an e-mail to see what I have.

    UPDATE!!! I found their web site & they have a documents library. I found my model & the data sheet for it which I printed. My 2015 AF came with the Mach 1 PS EZ A/C White. It is 11,000 BTU & draws 9.5 amps on High in normal conditions.
    Running Watts (cooling) Desert Condition (100 F. DB 72 F. WB Indoor, 95. DB Outdoor) is 1260 Watts. This seems to be the max watts in severe conditions.
    I don't have any generator, built-in or Honda.

    It's probably one of these two:

    Mach 1 11K BTU Powersaver(white, A/C only, no heat pump or strip)
    Model# 48207C966
    Mach 3 13.5K BTU Powersaver(white, A/C only, no heat pump or strip)
    Model# 48208C966

    It appears Airxcel is has done some model# changes. Haven't been to their website in a while and it's definitely updated. The Mach 1 PS model isn't currently advertised among their standard height units. Maybe they're getting ready axe the Mach 1. I mean it's in the rooftop selector guide, but nowhere else on the site. Beyond that, looks like the only option is the Mach 3 13.5K BTU PS unit. The Mach 1 PS might be hard to find in the future.

    That 9.5 Amp is nice, I can tell you. I think the numbers that Airxcel posts are a little on the high side, personally. On low, my unit barely pulls 1000 watts, give or take and not much more on high.

    The Honda 2K genny outputs 1600 continuous watts @13.3A. So that extra 600W and leftover amps will easily power the fridge all the lights and even the TV which is all we need. The batteries are generally topped off, so the charge convertor isn't working overtime--not that it's ever been a problem.
