It almost sounds like you have your mind made up to buy one? If so, buy it. It may be as dependable as my 5.7 diesel and if it isn't you can spread your wealth to people like Joediesel so he can buy more toys. :)
Ever notice how all those trucks he works on never have a bed...they all seem to be company trucks, and most are cab/chassis setups (and I'm guessing) F450-550 models.
Sorta backs up the master tech's opinion linked elsewhere in this thread:
"The main issue with them (6.4) is the lack of maintenance schedules some owners keep, emission system, fuel system and cooling systems which when combined it is taking out the base engine."
