The original question is akin to, "How long is a rope?". LED's come in all manner of light output and color. Some have a regulator circuit and some don't. Some use very little power and some use more.
I'd suggest the OP buy a few different kinds off E Bay and see what matches their likes. They are cheap enough that discarding one or two doesn't break the bank. Sometimes, the unwanted LED's become excellent illuminators of cabinet or storage spaces.
