Are there travel trailers built to full time in?

I thought I knew the answer to this till I started really thinking about it. As far as I know, there are no designations for trailers that are built to full time in (Park models not withstanding). Aside from the better built trailers (Airstream, Lance, Outdoors, etc.)am I right in thinking that what you see is what you get?

(Edited to say: I am putting some thought into seasonal work at national parks as I get closer to retirement. 6 months at a shot and living in an RV is preferable to a dorm.)
  • I've heard of something called "destination trailers." Not sure how those might be different from regular TT's or park models, but you might look around.
  • Arctic Fox (basically anything from Northwood) and Airstream. You typically want or need a large CCC, larger tanks, the ability to deal with condensation, stout axles and tires, and well insulated.
  • It depends on where you are going to stay. The type of TT needed in a shady resort park in GA is far different from the one needed in MN.

I saw lots of "permanent" installations in FL, not so many in MI.

Also remember you are not going to get the same durability out of a $30,000.00 TT that you get from a $100,000.00 small home.

One could always look into the tiny homes market.

TT means travel trailer, not a permanent home.
  • Grand Design are labeled as "extended stay" by the manufacturer. They wont invalidate the warranty for full time use.
